Check Your Car For Recalls

It's not unusual for your repair shop to check your car for recalls while it is in for service or repairs.  And often you hear about million of cars being recalled a on the news.  The problem with news reports is that even though they announce a certain year, make and model vehicle is being recalled not all of them are affected by a recall.  You might think your car needs recall repairs when it is not under recall.

Well there is an easy and accurate way for you to learn if your car is covered by a recall and needs repair.  Last year the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration improved their web site.  All you need to do is type in your car's vehicle identification number.  The website will tell you if your car is or is not affected by a recall.  Go to www.safercar.gov/vinlookup and try it yourself.  Who knows you might find your car needs free recall repairs that you were not aware of.  Or, you might sigh in relief that your car is recall free.
