Recall Of The Day, September 26, 2012

One recall has been issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Adminstration.  This issue is over a poor latch assembly affecting work trucks.  The issue could cause a crash, injury or worse.

Vehicle Make / Model: Model Year(s):
UTILIMASTER / AEROMASTER 2009-2011
UTILIMASTER / REACH 2011
Manufacturer: UTILIMASTER CORPORATIONMfr's Report Date: DEC 30, 2011
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 11V606000 NHTSA Action Number: N/A
Component: STRUCTURE:BODY:DOOR
Potential Number of Units Affected: 9,861
Summary:
Certain Utilimaster model year 2009 through 2011 Aeromaster and one model year 2011 Reach work trucks manufactured from September 1, 2009, through December 22, 2011, fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 206, "Door Locks and Door Retention Components."
Consequence:
Certain work trucks are not equipped with either a primary door latch system or a door latch system with a fully latched position and a door closure warning system as required by FMVSS 206. Without a door closure warning system, the driver may not be aware that the door is not fully latched. The door could partially open without warning and the driver may be at an increased risk of injuries in the event of a crash.
Remedy:
Utilimaster will notify owners, and dealers will repair the vehicles free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin on, or about, September 28, 2012. Owners may contact Utilimaster at 1-800-582-3454.
