The National Highway Traffic Safety Adminstration has issued two recalls.  One is for an issue in a turbocharger that could fail possibly causing a fire.  The other recall addresses an issue in the brake system specifically the parking brake.  The parking brakes could lock while driving.  Obviously these issues could cause a crash, ijury or worse.

Summary:
 New Flyer is recalling certain model year 2005-2006 C40LF and 2006 C40LFR transit buses, equipped with John Deere 8.1 liter turbocharged, compressed natural gas engines, model number 6081HFN04, manufactured from June 2002 through January 2008. Failures can occur within the engine turbocharger. The turbine or compressor wheel may fail, resulting in damage to the engine and/or an oil leak.
Consequence:
 Failure of the turbine or compressor wheel may result in smoke, fire, or stalling; possibly leading to a vehicle crash.
Remedy:
 The remedy for this issue is still under development. The recall is expected to begin in October 2012. Owners may contact New Flyer at 1-204-224-1251.

Summary:
 Navistar is recalling certain model year 2013 International 8600, 2012 and 2013 Durastar, 2011-2013 ProStar, and 2012 WorkStar trucks, manufactured from November 23, 2010, through April 02, 2012, and equipped with piston spring brake feature code 04EVP. The piston bore area of the parking brake chamber may have an air leak could result in the parking brake not fully releasing.
Consequence:
 If the parking brake does not fully release, the service brakes may lock up without warning, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy:
 Navistar will notify owners, and dealers will replace the spring brake chamber free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin on, or before, November 12, 2012. Owners may contact Navistar at 1-331-332-1590.
