STARCRAFT / AR-ONE

Manufacturer: STARCRAFT RV, INC.
Report Receipt Date: SEP 27, 2012
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 12V471000
N/A
NHTSA Action Number: N/A
Component: EQUIPMENT:OTHER:LABELS
Potential Number of Units Affected: 76
Summary: Starcraft RV (Starcraft) is recalling certain model year 2012 and 2013 AR-One travel trailers that may have an inaccurate load carrying capacity label. Due to the inaccurate label, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
Consequence: An inaccurate label may lead to the tire being replaced with one of an incorrect rim diameter. Two different diameter tires would reduce the handling ability of the trailer, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Starcraft will notify owners and will provide a corrected label free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin during October 2012. Owners may contact Starcraft RV at 1-800-945-4787.
Notes: Customers may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153); or go to http://www.safercar.gov.

Summary: Heartland Recreational Vehicles, LLC, (Heartland) is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Bighorn Silverado Fifth Wheel Travel trailers, manufactured from February 28, 2012, through August 28, 2012. The liquid propane (LP) hose and wire hanger that is mounted under the slide out can come in contact with the tire, causing damage to the LP hose and wiring.
Consequence: A damaged LP hose can lead to an LP leak and fire, increasing the risk of injury or death.
Remedy: Heartland will notify owners, and dealers will repair the affected vehicles free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in October 2012. Owners may contact Heartland Recreational Vehicles at 1-888-262-5992.
Notes: Heartland's number for this recall is 99-01-10. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Potential Number of Units Affected: 102
Summary: Eldorado National-California (Eldorado) is recalling certain model year 2006-2008 vehicles equipped with John Deere Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) turbocharged engines. The turbine or compressor wheel may fail, resulting in subsequent damage to the engine and/or an oil leak.
Consequence: Failure of the turbine or compressor wheel may result in smoke, fire, and stalling, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Eldorado will notify owners and dealers. The remedy for this issue is still under development. Eldorado has not provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Eldorado National at 905-591-9557 or Thor Industries at 937-596-7965.

Model Year(s):
NEWMAR / DUTCH AIRE DP
2009-2010
NEWMAR / DUTCH STAR
2008-2010
Manufacturer: Newmar Corporation
Report Receipt Date: SEP 24, 2012
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 12V467000
N/A
NHTSA Action Number: N/A
Component: SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM
Potential Number of Units Affected: 278
Summary: Newmar is recalling certain model year 2008-2010 Dutch Star and 2009-2010 Dutch Aire motorhomes, built on a Spartan chassis equipped with a Hendrickson independent front suspension. The front brake chambers may contact the upper control arm of the independent front suspension. Continued contact may result in damage sufficient enough to prevent the full release of the brakes. If the brakes do not fully release, as they drag, heat could be generated causing the brakes to engage even further.
Consequence: As the brakes heat up, they may self-engage, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Spartan Motors will notify owners and repair the vehicles. The manufacturer has not provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Newmar Corporation at 1-574-773-7791.
Notes: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153), or go to http://www.safercar.gov.
