Technology advances every day and we're always looking for ways to make our lives simpler and smoother. One of the many, quite repetitive tasks in our daily lives is charging our cell phones and other electronic gadgets. It seems like everything has a cord and a plug, a tangled mess of "does this fit that?," feeling all wrapped up and making it difficult to just keep track of all these charging devices. Mopar, Chrysler Group's service, parts and customer-care brand, has taken these wired thoughts into consideration and developed an industry-first, in-vehicle wireless charging system.
The technology will now allow your iPhone, Blackberry, MP3 Players and Droid-based devices to immediately begin charging in your vehicle once the engine has started without the need to plug in any cords. A seamlessly integrated power bin will be installed just below the center stack and in front of the center console. The bin has a built-in charging grid that is activated when customers place in their battery-powered device. A phone case, specifically designed for a variety of smartphones, is required and included with the feature.
The new technology will debut for customer purchase in the all-new 2013 Dodge Dart, which arrives in dealerships in the second quarter of this year.
Mopar in-vehicle wireless charging is available for $199.99, plus installation.
