If you own a 2006-2010 Honda Civic with a check engine light that keeps turning on, insects may be the trouble.
Sometimes an insect finds its way into a vent hose on the evaporative emissions canister. This clogs the hose and turns on the light. When this occurs a technician may find a diagnostic trouble code for a shut off valve. If he does, he should check the vent hose for spiders and other insects.
If the hose is clogged he can clean it or replace it with an updated factory part from a dealership that prevents insects from causing trouble.
