Recently, during a speech President Obama made a statement that has raised all kinds of controversy. In essence he said that small business owners, entrepreneurs did not build their own businesses. That someone else did it for them by providing the infrastructure, roads, pipelines, education and such for business. Government made it all possible.
Is he right? Tax payers provided the dollars to the government to fund education. The government hired companies to install pipes, build roads, sewers, water systems and more. Businessmen and their employees built railroads, highways and more so business could sprout where businesses did not exist. Some of the tax dollars came from existing business. The dollars also came from citizens like you and me.
Did government produce anything? Did senators and congressmen dig trenches, design and manufacture pipes, build highways and railroads? Did the government invent, design and manufacture cars, trucks, bulldozers, train engines and airplanes. I think not. Of course not! Tax payers who are business owners and ordinary citizens who are employed by business funded and did all the work. Not the government.
Take pride in what we do. Don't let the government take credit. WE funded everything, did the heavy work and made it all possible.
