If you own a 2009-2010 Acura that has an illuminated check engine light with computer diagnostic trouble code P2118 that has your technician scratching his head, there may be an answer. In some Acura TLs the computer trouble code indicates a problem in the throttle actuator. When your technician tests the actuator it passes tests. The dilemma is the part checks fine but the computer says there is a problem. The actual problem may be that the computer can not accurately interpret the signals from the throttle actuator.
Your technician can stop scratching his head. Engineers at Acura have discovered the trouble and developed a fix. They developed an update to the Powertrain Control Module software that should resolve all the confusion.
