Hope you are enjoying the weekend.
Today there are six recalls. Once again Toyota is under recall for floor mats interferring with the accelerator. Volkswagen has a problem with a sunroof that could shatter. And arailer and three trucks have safety issues.
If your vehicle is under recall, the manufacture should contact you but please feel free to contact them or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration hotline.
Summary: TOYOTA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010 LEXUS RX350 AND RX450H VEHICLES, MANUFACTURED FROM NOVEMBER 28, 2008, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 1, 2010. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL CAN GET STUCK IN THE WIDE OPEN POSITION DUE TO ITS BEING TRAPPED BY AN UNSECURED OR INCOMPATIBLE DRIVER'S FLOOR MAT.
Consequence: A STUCK OPEN ACCELERATOR PEDAL MAY RESULT IN VERY HIGH VEHICLE SPEEDS AND MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO STOP THE VEHICLE, WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH, SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.
Remedy: LEXUS WILL NOTIFY OWNERS OF AFFECTED VEHICLES AND DEALERS WILL MODIFY OR REPLACE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND REPLACE ANY LEXUS DRIVER'S FLOOR MAT NOT SPECIFIED FOR THE VEHICLE. LEXUS WILL BEGIN NOTIFYING OWNERS IN EARLY AUGUST 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT LEXUS AT 1-800-255-3987.
Notes: OWNERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.
