Four recalls by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have been issued.  Engine oil could leak on the rear tire of a motor cycle.  The axle of a brush chipper could separate.  The wiper arm could fall off another vehicle.  Lastly the brakes could fail on a motorhome.  All of these conditions could led to a crash, injury or worse.

Mfr's Report Date: JUL 31, 2012 NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 12V369000 NHTSA Action Number: N/A Component: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING Potential Number of Units Affected: 4,170 Summary:   Kawasaki is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 ZX-10R (ZX1000JBF/JBFL/KBF/KBFL/JCF/JCFL/KCF/KCFL) 'NINJA' motorcycles. Engine oil may leak from the crankcase at the starter mounting point and pool on top of the crankcase. Continued use in this condition can allow oil to spill over onto the rear tire. Consequence:   If oil spills onto the rear tire, there is an increased risk of a crash, leading to personal injury or death. Remedy:   Kawasaki will notify owners, and dealers will remove the starter and seal the crankcase, free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin shortly. Consequence:   If the axle separates from the brush chipper, there is an increased risk of a crash. Remedy:   Vermeer will notify owners, and dealers will replace the mounting bolts, free of charge. The wiper arms may not be adequately riveted resulting in incomplete or inconsistent clearing of the windshield and possible detachment of the wiper arm. Consequence:   If the wiper arm detaches, the windshield wiper will fail and the driver's visibility may be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash. Remedy:   Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver and passenger side wiper arm and blade assemblies, free of charge. These motorhomes chassis are equipped with Bosch hydraulic disc brakes which, when exposed to long periods of time of non-driving, may experience diametrical brake caliper piston growth and reduced piston to bore clearance potentially leading to brake drag and overheating resulting in reduced brake performance. Consequence:   Reduced brake performance may lead to a vehicle crash. Remedy:   Owners will be notified by Daimler Trucks/FCCC, and repairs will be performed by authorized FCCC dealers free of charge.
